Some classic and great storytelling in this wonderful book. It is engaging, educational, inspiring and emotional.
Mr. Butterfield is a cranky carpenter carving a Jesse tree inside the Church. A Jesse tree is kind of a biblical family tree often carved in wood or into stained glass and an old old tradition. The carpenter is bothered by a noisy dirty persistent little boy who wants to hear all the stories being carved into the tree. Slowly the old man opens up and shares his version of the stories from the bible.
An absolutely lovely book and a really clever way of storytelling, This multi layered book has been a delight to read to children and it brings a very old tradition of storytelling through images to life. The ending is delightful although perhaps suspected throughout?
This is a glossy, beautifully illustrated A4 book by Lion Childrens. It would make a nice/different confirmation gift
