What happens on World Book Day ?

World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, of illustrators, of books and  of reading.

This is the 15th year there’s been a World Book Day, and on 1st March children of all ages (as well as libraries, schools, charities, bookshops, newspapers, people on TV, families and bloggers . . .) will come together to say a big YAY! for reading.

What happens?

Millions of book vouchers are given out to to children and young people on the day (more than 14 million)They can take their voucher to a bookshop and can use them to pick one of eight (exclusive, new and completely free) books. Or, if they’d rather, they can use it to get £1 off any book that costs over £2.99.

There will be loads of small events and there is a huge online book festival taking place on the day Head to the biggest book show on earth

I plan to go into my daughters class and facilitate a book swap between the children. What do you plan to do?
