Tell me the Day Backwards written by Albert Lamb and illustrated by David McPhail (Walker Bks: April 2011)
This is a lovely hardback story book for pre-schoolers up to the ages of about 7. Early readers would probably find the very clear, large font a pleasure to read too. The picture illustrations are simply gorgeous and really add to the story telling.
In the story, Timmy Bear is going to bed and decides to have one last game wtih Mama Bear. The game is where they tell their day backwards. Its very cute; that is literally what they do. Timmy Bear has got into all sorts of scrapes theroughout the day and the tale gradually unfolds ..backwards!
It turns out that prior to this day the bears have had their ‘big sleep’ so this book ties in very well with Spring and awakenings and helps to explain hibernation too.
A delightful fun book that make a child think. After reading this we told our own day backwards and have a few times since..loads of fun!
